    • An important part of student success in Stevenson is teachers who are willing to evaluate themselves as well as their students. Sometimes it is easy to fall into habits of leading students to correct answers especially when working with more dependent learners. It is also easy to allow speedier learners to dominate whole group situations. Careful reflection on the lesson can help instructors to identify areas where they might need to clarify their procedures in order for students to progress more quickly.
      These questions are for instructor reflection of the lesson.

    • This provides a visual template of a possible lesson flow for a 60 minute instruction period to a whole group. This is not a must follow directive for each and every lesson. As pointed out at the bottom of this handout, a successful Stevenson lesson involves Reading, Spelling and Vocabulary Development. One of these areas may be the primary focus but all are essential to success.

It might also prove useful for teaching assistants who could provide follow up in each of the sections after the initial presentation of materials.
